Norlin Mk IIIThe most succesful design in the 2,4mR class and the only one that has been in production for a longer period.
A design without weak spots with very good allround performance. It has been sailed and developed by many very talented
sailors through the years and it is no doubt the bench mark of the class. The lines for the Norlin Mk III was originally ordered by me from Peter Norlin in 1987. I had seen the "Mini Twelves"
when I was sailing in Stockholm and immediately felt that this would suit me just perfekt as a side project in my business building plugs and moulds for the boat industry.
First sail first Norlin Mk III
SWE 181 the origin of the grp Norlin Mk III.
I built a male plug and built a couple of boats in cold moulded wood. The moulds for the grp Norlin Mk III was taken from one of these boats SWE 181. The first years it did not perform significantly but as the Södergren Mk III was superseded as the only 2,4mR in series production and top rank sailors started sailing the boat it started to climb.
In 1994 there was only one of the top sailors holding on to his old boat, Peter Norlin sailing his old MK II SWE 112. Interestingly though still performing. He was no 4 at the Swedish nationals that year.
To be continued.
