SWE 385 now sailing in the UK by Steve Bullmore
Myself in SWE385
The Stradivari prototype first sailed in the summer of 1997 and 10 boats was built in female moulds by me 1998-2002
Having introduced the Norlin Mk III to the market and built a number of them I wanted to try my own ideas on how to tweak some more performance out of the 2,4mR rule.
SWE 366 sailed by P Lindell
The combination of less wetted surface together with top numbers for her righting moment (RM) and well-distributed displacement assures top speed in all conditions.
She is regarded as a top performer and has produced many top results since her introduction.
Early results worth highlighting are 2, 3 and 5 in single races in WC 1999 in Marstrand with SWE 362. The Norwedigan disabeled sailor Bjornar Erikstad made some good results in Norway before his shift to Norlin Mk III for his Paralympic campaign.
At the WC in Melbourne in 2000 SWE 380 was no 11 with Bo Hedensjö at the helm and in 2001 in Norway I myself managed a 10th place. In later years Peter Andersson SWE 364 has been the most succesful Stradivari sailor winning the pre worls in 2006
and coming in 7th and 6th at WC 2006 and 2007.
SWE 362 at Frostbite Cup Marstrand
To be continued.
